Your puppy must be accepting of all kinds of people including children. The first children your puppy will see may very well be family members. You need to instruct your children how to properly act around the puppy as well as teaching your puppy how to act around kids.
Just think if your puppy has grown up not being handled and a strange child wanders into your yard. What will happen when that child tries to hug your dog? I shudder to think of the possibilities if your puppy has not been conditioned to being handled. Dogs have several spots on their bodies that without this conditioning can lead to trouble when you or your veterinarian must handle them. These include the ears, paws, muzzle, collar area and rear end.
